Then someone would have to steer. Go with I Pilot.
Torch does. If it idles slow enuff you can steer with the trolling motor still
i mount ror holders in front of consoles and set in driver seat and look at rods, depth finder and straight ahead have 16',12',and 6' out each side. old boat had ipilot just set at 1.7 mph and steer with steering wheel [motor]. new boat dont have ipilot and wont turn with steering anyway [fiberglass z8 nitro] so i was wondering what thrust i would need to push my boat with a Engine Mount Trolling Motor. [wind] 80# or 160# want to stay with 24 volt. hope this makes sence. it realy worked good with my old war eagle predator trying to make nitro do what it did.
Torch uses ,like I do, a KICKER motor to push and a Minn Kota w/Ipilot to steer with. Works great!
I missed what you were talking about, you are talking about an electric motor not a gas kicker, my bad.
They make a 101 in that also, or at least they did. Bet it will work fine.
Your problem is going to be the ability to hold that speed for anything over 5 hours with 24v group 29s (factory) or even 31s if you've upgraded. Bet 80# will be enough except in strong winds headed directly into it. Z8 is going to be heavy and relatively deep. Had an 80 terrova with 31s on my champion 187 an if I really nursed it, I could get 5 hours tops.
Think Vic Finkley has an engine mount he's not using anymore if you want to try and find a used set up.
