Maybe I can help ya. Im fixing to have to leave but I have a question before I go. You fish a lot and thats awesome I don't get many oppurtunities and haven't been on here until just a few weeks ago. I have been deer hunting and before then we got real busy at work. The weather is gonna turn good and instead of getting to fish when it is nice out I will be back at work. Anyway I am off tomorrow and thought about going fishing. It is gonna be cold but I'm out in this mess and use to it. What are your thoughts about going tomorrow? Is it a waste of time after all of this rain? I could go bowhunting I guess. Would I be better fishing a bigger lake because the rain would not effect the lake level so much or stay around here and fish barnett or conway both those lakes are pretty small but they are close to home the only thing is I don't hardly ever fish them. Just wandering what you might think and good luck on hitting 3000
Nimrod, i cant see how you could possibly be bored, Crappie bite best when the weather is bad. You should be out there filling out a limit, I cant believe you let a little bit of liquid sunshine keep you from the water. if i had not had to work today i would have been filling a limit on conway. I knew Leo really well, i think in my archive of old bass tackle, i still have a couple of queen spinnerbaits. I have fished conway for over thirty years now.
Yeah bored too,do want to slash some water on someone and see what comes of it??lol
Agree the heavier the snow falls crappie will almost jump in your boat,I think they like eating snow too.I'm like nimrod, its alot better window fishing as getting your ears full of snow.
Don't think it's the cold so much, but the drastic change in temperature from the front coming in. My experience has not been good for a few days after a front. Not to mention that howling wind. Supposed to be 20 to 30 mph tomorrow! I'd appreciate your thoughts on that, Nimrod.
Bored? YES!! but at least the lakes are filling up some more!
The wind is a problem, However catching them crappie post front conditions can be very hard, a change to the bait size has proven profitable for me, DOWNSIZE, DOWNSIZE, DOWNSIZE. They tend to hold alot tighter to the structure and hold alot tighter lips. Ive seen time where a small jig not much larger than a trout fly would produce in post front conditions just like the fish did not know a front passed through. Sometimes lockjaw means just that, lockjaw.
If the wind is glowing to blow 20-30 I'm staying home. No place for me and the duracraft
I know we need rain and cann't do without it however I wish the rain would go away,I liked the low clear water we have right now.Now haveta learn all over again how to fish muddy, stained water on a fast or slow rise. We've had low clear water for so long finding the key to unlock the jaw wasn't a problem. To make things easier finding the key I think I'll drive around until I see elbow to elbow fishing, ram cut lines until I get there too.lol
