Never tried it, it would eliminate the need for weight to sink it with. In my opinion, i would be fearful of how hard it would be on fishing line. if a fish gets you down in it, that metal would destroy fishing line and result in break offs. Or the metal would cut you line.
I would hate to hit one with a boat during low water. It is bad enought on Poinsett with the re-bar in the tree tops.
If I read the rules correct, re-bar is not allowed anymore in the state lakes.
:eek:Bad idea as it could be dangerous!
Rebar make a nasty gash in the hull of boats.
PVC is supposely poison to the water after a period. I was told by the Lake Millwood manager not to use PVC or plastic buckets period but some still do. The chemicals in the material releases in the water after a while.
Bamboo is still my favorite, but it is pretty tough to handle unless you have a barge but I did manage in my boat.
OK. Bad deal.
I hear what you are saying about PVC--It may be that most water is purified, but I have well water.
I know that making or storing wine or booze in plastic jugs is bad tasting and may be a health hazard.
Supposely the chemicals within the PVC material takes a while to surface---I do know the Millwood lake manager told the park rangers to stop and fine anyone abusing the lake and to report them to him.
Buckets is what a lot of crappie fisherman use for condo's---I have switched to trees and sandbags--much easier to use and to place out in the water.
