If you had just one jig and color to fish Ky lake what would it be?
Baby bass southern pro minnow tube with insider head.
JR's jig from Weiss Lake area. Probably bubblegum color but that depends on water color and what the fish want. I would throw everything but the phone book and keep track of what they are hitting on. Once you find a pattern, switch all your poles to colors that are the same and close to the same.
I don't think I can pick just one, depends on the type of fishing and conditions. Favorites are for casting Charlie Brewer Slider Chart/red or road runner with yellow/chart midsouth tube. Spider rigging/vertical fishing toss up between aforementioned Southern Pro Minnow tube in baby bass or yellow/chart Midsouth tube on a green chart crappie pro head. I've had white/blue minnow tubes and regular tubes do really well too. Guess if I had to pick just one would be yellow/chart midsouth tube though. Sorry for long post even though you just asked for one, I couldn't do it LOL. I actually have a few others I really like on Kentucky Lake that I left out, might could get by with about 6 LOL.

.... and just so you know the whole story ... there were 4 of us. My partner & I caught our limits on the Roadrunners, while the other 2 guys caught their portion on minnows. In my right hand is the stringer of good fish caught on minnows .... in my left hand are the stringers of Slabs caught on Roadrunners. All fish were caught from the back end of a small bay, just up the lake from KY Dam Village ... Early April - light rain - air temps of high 30's - 6ft of water.

I was waiting for someone to say "Roadrunner". Seems like every time I am at there we always do really well on the Roadrunner. Usually chartreuse or white. I can honestly say that this is one of the only places that I use a Roadrunner. Kind of funny......can't catch them many other places consistantly on them????? I never go to Kentucky Lake without stocking up on my Roadrunners.
I've fished Ky Lake all my life. A very well-known guide on the lake told me years ago, "It doesn't make any difference what color jig you use on Ky Lake as long as it's chartruse." I would say there's real logic in that. Beyond a doubt, the overall best jig I have found on Ky Lake is a dark green/chartruse with a 1/8 oz orange or red head. I favor Southern Pro jigs but there are several good kinds. I've fished both Kentucky and Barkley Lakes from one end to the other, and have never found anything that will touch the dark green/chartruce day after day given normal water conditions. A close second for me would be the new panfish assassin jigs in their chartruce color which is more yellow than green. I call them "lemon-drops" because that's what they remind me of. They are awesome when matched with a 1/8 oz orange head. I'll even go to a 1/4 oz head if fishing over 20 ft deep.
Looks like I need to learn to spell "Chartreuse". But...anyway, it's still the best color for me.....if it's mixed with a dark green combo!
I too have fished Ky & barkly lakes all my life and I'm go'n on 52. I have caught fish on all the afore mentioned colors. For me it seem like it changes some years, I assume due to water color & light penitration. Couple of years ago red & chartruse was hot but last year (all year long) the 2" yellow and chartruse Southern pro tubes on a 3/32 oz chartruse jig was hot! It outfished everthing I tried consistantly, whether I was vertical jig'n or spider riggin. Ofcourse I go to heavier or lighter jigs depending on depth.
A 1/16 oz chartruse marabo Road runner is my choice for casting. Those little chartuse "lemon drop" panfish ass. are great when the water is cold & they don't want much movement.
Black & blue out caught every other color 10 to 1 for me last year.
I couldn't keep the yellow bass off of the yellow/white or chartreuse.
I did have about a week at the tail end of the spawn where they wanted orange/chartreuse.
