Anybody going to see the new version?
i'll wait till it comes out on dvd.......aint been in a theater in years
I think the original "True Grit" was the first movie I ever saw in a theater, so I may have to see this one on the big screen.
I've heards some very good reviews of this one -- looking forward to seeing it.
Can't wait...:)
how do you do a remake of the DUKE
I rarely get excited about movies, but I can't wait to see this!!!!!!!! I predict an oscar for Bridges.
Looks to be a good movie but I will wait until it's on Blue-Ray.
Sometimes remakes are BAD, leave the great movies alone!!!!!!!!!!!!
change is hard to take, but that does not mean it is no good, the promos and such look good, think I will wait till it comes out on tv and see what all the hoopla is about,
I'm anxious to see it also.
Probably on the order of Clint Eastwood's "Unforgiven"....
That was a good one.
I will watch it when it comes on free tv.
Free means a good antenna canepole. hahaa. Most ppl do not know what a tv antenna is. I hate it when I make myself feel old.
iill wait till its out for net flix
fill your hand you son of a bit$# i mine to kill you to day / 2 great lines
Went to see it this afternoon and it was great. Bridges is not the Duke but he does a good job.
Just not going out of the way to see it. I don't think Hollywood can remember how to make a western.
I feel the same way. Why did they mess with a classic! I'll watch it when it comes to dvd.
Okay, guys... I was pretty skeptical about this one. Really wasn't sure what to expect, but I have to say that this movie is EXCELLENT!!! Went to see it yesterday and am really glad I did. Bridges is no John Wayne, but he was awesome in this role. Best new movie I have seen in a very long time.
john wayne was way over rated as an actor. he played the same part in every movie he ever made. don't understand why folks were so crazy about him. of course i feel the same way about the beatles and elvis. meh.
I saw it Sunday with the Mrs. It was a great movie for me. Ranks right up there with Silverado. I appreciated that the sceanery was more like the area depicted than the first movie.
I will never understand why both John and Jeff rode righ past Ned pepper's horse and rode Little Blacky to death. Ned didn't need him anymore.
DP
this is one of the very few I will go see before it comes out on video
I saw it and thought it was very good. Bridges does a great job and shouldn't be compared to John Wayne. I like John Wayne, but he always played the same character every time..... John Wayne. This version of Grit is more true to the book.
I differ with some of you guys.;) I grew up watching any and all of John Wayne's movies and could only wish there was as good an actor nowadays. Yea, JW did act as the same guy in all his movies...which made him the BEST. He was ALWAYS the toughest guy on the block so there wasnt any need to change that!:) I havent seen the new movie yet but plan on it. Thanks for all the feedback. Makes me want to see if sooner than waiting on DVD.
I don't really agree that he was a great actor............but............I still get at least one John Wayne movie a week out to watch. He was the western and always will be. I just wish that he had made even more movies than he did. I also agree that Silverado was the only newer western that even came close.
Speaking of John Wayne as an actor, I always thought his best job was in The Searchers closely followed by The Shootist. That said True Grit is still my favorite JW movie.
The movies were old and I was young. He may not be the best but from my memories he was. Dont forget all the war movies he played in either. Some good ones there too.;)
I was never really a fan of John Wayne, don't get me wrong I have seen a lot of his movies but I'm more of a Clint Eastwood fan. I probably wont see True Grit in the theatres but will wait for the DVD. I agree with SteveJ also, Robert Duvall was one of the best. Sam Elliot was also pretty good.
Finally got to see it. Great movie.
I'll see it someday, hopefully in a theater. Although I doubt it. Last time I went to teh theater was for a Harry Potter moive. Had some psycho women sit behind me, she got more animated with the volume and intensity of the movie. 2/3 through the movie the ushers finally convinced her to go out to the lobby. The poor teenagers sitting next to her we scared for thier lives, they couldnt get any closer to the person next to them. She was abusing the hell out of my chair, standing, flaling her arms, etc. When the music calmed down so did she. It was wierd. My future daughter in law thinks she is a scitso (sp) and the volume triggered her episodes.
Scarry part is I saw her driving home after the show. I sure hope the stereo in her car didn't work.
I don't go to theaters no more since I heard about the farmer taking his rooster to the show.
