If you want flat waxed nylon (210 denier) through Barlow's, try here.
Wapsi makes ultra thread which is sized in 70,140 and 210.Barlow's sells it and I believe flatfish does as well. Great stuff, strong with a nice color selection. I use it about 90% of the time when I tie.Uni thread comes in 3/0,6/0,8/0.
Thank You gentlemen. You are a big help. Joel
These numbers are from "Fly Tyer".
Uni 3/0 – 213 denier
Uni 6/0 – 135 denier
Uni 8/0 – 72 denier
Uni Big Fly – 400 denier
Danville Flymaster 6/0 – 79 denier
Danville Flymaster + – 237 denier
Danville Flat Waxed Nylon – 223 denier
Wapsi (Ultra 140 – 140 denier) and UTC (UTC 280 – 280 denier) list thread size in denier.
I use 210 Danville flat waxed and like 140 Ultra as my 2 fav's. I know lots use Uni and like it, but I have not had good time with it at all and prefer not using it. I do have some Ultra in 6/0 because I can't get the color I want in others that I use.
