Prepared a little tonight for a future crappie fishing trip.

Made some "old school" hair jigs tied with craft fur and tinsel. Even the rod wrapping thread that I used is old (Gudebrod Gude Wind). ;)
Limetreuse-colored, all are 1/16-ouncers with #2 hooks. Each is approximately 1.5 inches long (a little longer with tinsel).
Don't do good with that color around here,but the jigs are good looking.

Very good looking jigs.
Nice jigs, dont see a lot of guys on here using craft fur, not sure why, because it holds a nice body shape when wet and has lots of action. I like it better then maroubou.
i dont think they will work, send me 10 or so and i will try them for you .just tryin to help ya out man.:D
Nice looking jigs, nothing wrong with craft hair. The float and fly jigs are made with it but the stuff they use is way better than what you can get at Wal-Mart.

Great looking jigs,love the limetreuse color.I think a jig with a limetreuse back with a light pink or white belly would be killer.
I do have one color of craft fur that I use. Got the recipe from a guide here on T-Bend and he uses this a lot and it's simple enough. Mine also has flash on it, but the color is the one that starts out black and turns silver or maybe some would say white. Anyway it works as I have tried it and even sold a few.
He uses the entire length too as the crappie have big enough mouths to still get them even with the tail being really long.
Your jigs look like they are good and you should probably catch fish with them as well. Good job,

I like to tie with craft fur a lot. Had a fellow here in the Indianapolis area who wanted to do some field testing of my bass jigs this spring. He posted very good results to his own and another Indiana web site. Then, he asked me to tie him some more. I obliged. :)Quote:

I'd agree that there are some types of craft fur that are somewhat painful to tie with due to the short fibers that bunch up near the base of a swatch cut. I've taught myself how to quickly get rid of those, so most craft fur is OK by me.
It does look good to me in the water. Works great with the Float-N-Fly presentation for smallmouth bass that Fatman mentioned.
