Western Branch problems
What is going on with Western Branch? I read Taps post concerning the algea. I started fishing the Branch in 2002 and noticed these clear jelly looking globs.
Someone on the main board gave them a name don't remember but it was an indication the lake was in good balance. I last fished it in 2007 and had a pretty good year. I know live near Charlotte and fish lake Norman this place is pretty clear. Two weeks ago I fished and the bass were on the beds. It was amazing how many fish you could see I know I counted 30 bass on one 60 ft stretch of bank.
Still learning the lake and finding structure hundreds of docks but have to find the right ones.

They clear jelly looking blobs are Bryozoans.
They are a colony of animals that feeds
on protozoa etc., and are one indicator of good water quality.

I had a great year at WB in 2007. Caught 118 crappie on one day there. Problem is, things went down the crapper in 08 and seem to still be there. Possible lack of water flow from Burnt Mills, algae, who knows? I sure don't.
