Hey Folks,
I have to say, I have learned more about crappie fishing in the past 4 months than in the previous 27 years of my life combined I think. I didn't know much so that aint saying much I guess. I haven't got to put any of this "knowledge" to use yet, but will some day. Just wanted to say thanks for all the great posts and info.
I also wanted to let you know about a website I have spent a considerable amount of time on the past 8 months (started in deer season): Homepage - Fishing & Hunting TV|Free Videos|Tips|Recipes|Nature - MyOutdoorTV.com . I am sure most of you have probably already discovered this website but I thought I would post it anyway.
I love the show Midwest Crappie. I have watched every episode of this show on the site above and some more than once. Between that show and this message board I feel a whole new world of crappie fishing has been opened to me.
I do have some questions though:
1. When "long-line" trolling how do you know how deep your jigs are running? I hear people talk about speed. I hear people say the size of their jig head and such, but I have never understood how you guys know how to get all the factors in line to get the bait down to where you are seeing the fish on your electronics. Maybe I am missing it.
2. When someone says they are "tight-lining" I assume they are using heavier weights to get the bait down more vertically vs. using a lot of line to get the bait down. Is that correct? Makes sense to me, I would theoretically think you could move faster and I can't even imagine the hang ups and messes I would get into with 40+ ft of line out.
that is all for now.
