Fished HR from 3:30 til 6:30 yesterday. Caught 2 bream, 1 bass, released a catfish from an abandoned jug line, and 15 crappie. 4 of the crappie were 2 lbers. Still had eggs. Released them all. All caught on jigs under corks on structure. Water was 76 when we got there, 74 when we left. Jig color didn't seem to matter. Caught'em on black, green, and white with yellow tail.
Oh yeah, be careful if you go on the weekends now. Lots of inexperienced boaters out there. We had to dodge a few yesterday.
Sounds like you had a good trip. My weekend day fishing is over on most lakes.
Nat, I have to agree on the weekends. I'll quit fishing Smith Mountain shortly due to the same problem. Usually head to Buggs Island since it will handle more traffic. Wish I could fish more of the weekdays. Thinking of joining Lake Hunt in Reidsville. It's private and you get a key to fish it anytime.
I am done on weekends also....unless my grandchildren or wife wants to go...if I can stall them until school is out in a month or so...we'll all be able to fish on weekdays.
