Went out today to green river lake and had a rough time. We caught about fourty five between our two boats and had one keeper.....all day long! Is this normal or are there always that many dinks in the Jonathon creek area? It sure was windy as i have ever seen on the way in. The main lake was white capping and waves were coming over the back of the boat. All in all a great day just wish we could have found some keepers.
... couple of years of dinks, then a banner year of Slabs. That lake is as cyclic in size of Crappie, as any lake I've ever known of :pQuote:

Were you fishing in the creeks & pockets off of Robinson Cr. ... or around the Emerald Isle/island/State Park area ?? (I didn't know GRL had a "Jonathan" creek ... thought that was just on KY Lake :p )
Hey Crap-pie ... with 20+ mph sustained winds, and gusts to 30 ... even my bathtub water was whitecapping :eek: :D I thought about going down to Cedar Creek Lake, this morning, and doing a little bank fishing ... but, when I saw the wind forecast, I backed out. It's hard enough casting out far enough to reach good water depth, without the wind blowing your bait back behind you or putting a 10ft bow in your line .... LOL !!
You got out, you fished, you caught, you got some pullage ... sounds like a successful trip to me !! Just remember where you caught them, and try them again ... next year & the year after ... the survivors will be fat and sassy by then !!

The fish hadnt spawned as of friday. I get a daily report from a guy that is fishing every day. They are however pulling the lake pretty hard and dropped it almost a foot in 24 hrs and the bite has slowed.
My bad i meant to say robinson creek but slipped up and said the wrong thing.....hahaha but that is the area we were fishing. All in all a great trip.
My friend says they are spawning right now! :)They are catching males that are squirting when picked up and the females still have some eggs. The downside is about a 10% keeper ratio. Another year of wading through the little ones.:eek: If anyone cares the word is the white bass are getting crazy in the headwaters of herrington lake.:) Also the word is I cant get away from the baseball games my kids are in to go fishing, I am line up for something every day of the week.:(
