OK guys and gals please convince me I need to try the 1/100 and 1/128 oz jig heads. How do you fish them.....now I don't ice fish so its gotta be soft water techniques. Why do I need them over a 1/64 oz jig head and what can I expect to do to my catch ratios with these jigs....so tell me please...brim

I slip string 'em with a 1/64 split about 1' above the jig Brim makes for compact casting and fishable to 10' some days are little bait days!
Only reason I can think of is I hate being skunked and will have whatever I need in my box to prevent it. If that means I have go so small I can barely cast it then so be it. In cold water a small meal is easy to digest I guess.
The main thing I will use them for is when I can see the gills or crappie or know they are in very shallow water and want to make as little splash as possible if I have to cast almost on top of them.
I love the way they fall very slowly just put a sinker a foot above it and one at base of bobber if needed to help cast. the slow fall is deadly IMO.

You can cast a 1/128 oz jig???? On what? I have a hard time managing a 1/64 oz without split shotting it like FF was talking about. Can you tell me what kind of outfit you have to work with to cast those fly weights. I was seriously thinking about using a fly rod but if you got a rig that can castem' please tell me about it.Quote:

Seriously, though, you have to use a fly rod or fish it under a float to get any distance at all. If you add split shot to it, it seems like you're just admitting you should be using a bigger jig to begin with.
When I split shot the 64's I am going for the small profile and the split shot is far enough away from the jig not to interfere with the jig's profile. I'll have to admit though that if there is ANY wind it is almost impossible for me to fish this rig. I really appreciate all the info I'm getting so far.....I never realized the things were this popular......keep it coming folks....brimQuote:

I will agree that a fly rod is gonna be much better though if not using a float.
