1st time there, any tips?
caught a few on downed trees about 2 -3 ft. got tired of the wind and was home by 3. i will be back.
I have never fished willisburg but have you ever tried springfield reservoir? Its less than 20 miles from willisburg and has some excellent crappie and bluegill. The crappie we caught on saturday are busting with eggs but are not on the bed yet, water temp 57 on saturday.
Did the crappie you caught have any size to them? I have never fished either of these places for crappie. Does the Springfield lake have any motor restictions on it? I am looking for somewhere to go now that my usual places are flooded.
Thanks
Actually there are very nice crappie in there and it runs in cycles like most places. 2 yrs ago we caught some 1lb crappie and last yr we caught mostly smaller ones but the sample so far is some pretty good fish. Its I would guess 25 acres and owned by the city of springfield and I dont know of any restrictions. Probally make a few mad if you get over idle but if you dont care I dont either.:D
I grew up in Spingfield, and dad and I used to fish the old reservoir on Booker Rd. Like you said, some years are good and others not so good. I am not 100% sure, but I think that you are just allowed a trolling motor on that body of water, but I will check. You are talking about the old reservoir out in the county and not the new reservoir in town behind Armour?
Good Luck

... is a trolling motor only lake. 14 acres .... limited hours of use (daytime only, I think)
Springfield Reservoir (behind Armour) is 39 acres ... limited hours of use ... no boats allowed (bank access fishing only)
(info taken from KDFWR website)
I believe the Springfield Res. behind Armour is the city water supply, and that's the reason for no boats allowed ;)
I don't know how old this info is, so don't shoot the messenger :p
... cp
Ky Dept of Fish and Wildlife - Access Site Info Here is a link, I never dreamed it was only 14 acres! Trolling motor only but I have seen a world of people ideling.:) The lake behind the feed plant cant be over 2 acres if that place is called armour. I hardly ever go through town. Thanks for letting me know C.P.
