KY Lake Tomorrow (4/8)?

Hello to all. I've never posted in this forum, but have been reading for months.

Going to try to catch a crappie tomorrow, and was wondering if anyone had been today, or had any idea where to start looking tomorrow.

I usually do pretty well in February and March, but have some trouble finding fish this time of year (the opposite of what you might expect!).

Welcome aboard craig, I would say they got lockjaw for the next few days around here but ya cant catch anything on the couch. I had a weeks vacation scheduled this week I cancelled. Rescheduled in 2 weeks though.

I'd start in 10' to 12' and fish tight to cover near the bottom and slow. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Myself, my father-in-law, my uncle and a friend will be there starting tomorrow (4/8), heading home on monday (4/13). Staying on Jonathan Creek. Hoping that the warmer weather towards the end of the week helps things out...

I will take the advice listed here and see if we can't convince a fish or two into the boats!:D

If it warms up in the afternoon don't be afraid to try places shallow even if you didn't catch any there a few hours earlier. The fish are wanting to make a move as soon as the water temps start to climb. Good luck.

I fished the north end this afternoon with ZERO results on the crappie. I lost a BIG fish in a brush pile in 12 feet of water. I think it was a crappie but never saw it. That was it other than some small bass. I talked to several other fishermen and they were only catching very few short fish. I saw a family catch 3 short fish on minnows over a deep stake bed. I fished every thing from 5 feet to 20 feet and beat the bark off several deep brushpiles with tightline jigs. It's tough out there.

I hope that the fish are ready to move shallow, I'm not having to much luck as of late. I guess you might say I am waiting for the water to warm up as well. That being said when it warm's up still no garuntee I will catch any. If I have it my way it won't be from trying.

I fished from 10-12' today, and caught about 20 crappie, but only 7 keepers. Towards the end of the day, the fish were hitting aggressively, but I couldn't stay on any cover of the right depth long enough for a good presentation. Still, the keepers were big fish, and I've had worse days!

I fished all day yesterday in Big Bear and managed a big fat ZERO crappie:( About 1oclock I started fishing for bass and ended up with 6. The biggest went about 4lbs. I think the the cold on monday and tuesday sent the fish deep and locked their jaws. That and the wind blowing like it was. That was one of few times I have seen Big Bear that rough.
