I put one on my boat about two months ago. It is easy to deploy. Are you pushing the release handle in and then pushing down before deploying? I want to say that there is something you can put on the shaft that makes it easier to deploy, but I would check with someone before doing that. My wife says that I hear things sometimes. :D
Mine has been hard to deploy since I got over a year ago. I've put every lubricant I can find on it. You might get the warranty involved before its too late. I kept thinking mine would get better, but it didn't. Like the motor except for that.
There is an adjustment ring on the bottom of the shaft right where it clips in when stowd. Adjust where the motor part is forward toward the bow of the boat. Mine was a pain when I first got it and I was very upset the amount of money I paid for that aggrivation.
When I made that adjustment it deploys and stows without any effort. It has not come unstowd in rough water at all. Give it a try you will be amazed at the difference.
I think cane pole? may have published a tutorial on the forum regarding the deployment of those trolling motors...shows how to adjust the nut and all.
Yes, mine is a powerdrive v2, sorry for the false hope I thaught they would be the same. Are you sure there in not threads at the very bottom with a ring witha bolt going through?
Again, sorry for any false hope.
There was a thread addressing these issues. Go under "search" forum and type in Terrova. There will be several threads, just search through them. I dont have a terrova yet but have done much research on these and powerdrive. There are images and tutorials to help through this issue.
