Selling homemade jigs
Hi everyone, Im looking at trying to sell my homemade jigs. Iwas wondering if anyone had any advice or insight they could tell me. Also, I need to make a website, but I don't know where to begin. So, any tips would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone is interested in buying any, let me know

Be sure you really enjoy it first, sitting at a tying bench for hours a day can get tiring, especially when you're making close to minimum wage after costs. You make 15-60 jigs or so per order, and it gets repetitive. It's something you have to enjoy to do as a business IMO. Don't put too much money into a website thinking you'll make a ton of money.
You'll need a domain name, a server, and a template or just install a store like CubeCart via your cPanel (domainname.com/cpanel, usually). If you don't know how to edit the templates, find someone who does but it will usually cost you a pretty penny.
Don't forget the business licenses and keep records for taxes.
Good luck, shoot me a PM if you need any help with the website, I've built 5 or 6 different ones from scratch now.

All I will say is the cost per jig material is usually under estimated and then you about have to forget your labor getting what it's worth. There are so many jig tiers, but it's hard to really make any money.
I do it mostly for something to do even though now it may be more than that since I have a hard time getting time to fish, LOL! This is when you better really like tying.

Skip is right. He told be a while back. I'm only doing this cause I got layed off in Nov. This keeps me busy and I'm sure when another real job finds me it will go buy the way side a bit. You won't make much money at it

I would suggest starting with a free web site builder. Yola.com is a great place to look. You do all the work yourself. They have easy to follow instructions, a good help desk, and customer support. I made one with them about a month ago. Takes awhile to learn what all the features are, but if you have some patience you can build a neat site at no cost. Not an expert but would be glad to help you with any questions. You can see mine at Crappie Crippler Jigs . But, be prepared to do lots of tying and very little of anything else!
