Pennys Bend White Bass

Despite the high and muddy water I decided to give it a try this morning on the way to work. I walked up river from the parking lot. Ran into 2 guys that had around 15 nice whites. So I knew they were biting. I stoped at my HOLE and caught 5 or 6 small males in about 15 min. All were caught on a white grub. I was fishing the grub like a worm, working it close to the bottom with help from the FAST current.. All my bites came when the grub was on slack line.. I got there around 10:30. I sure wish I had been there at 1st light. I am going to try it again in the morning.

I was really wanting to go this morning but couldnt so I fortunately was not in your HOLE when you got there. Glad you got some. With all this rain we have had this year looks like there should be a lot of fish at PB. We need a break from this rain and some consistent warm weather now. Thanks for the report.

got out there this afternoon, the banks were like grease but as soon as we found stability lower to the water and cast a few times we were on. we walked a bit caught a few and struck every nook, coming out with a pretty PENNY around 4pm. chartreuse w/glitter, whites were prominent.

Welcome Bacbass, I stoped this morning around 10:30 for about 15 min and caught 1 there at the parking lot.. White grub. Water is pretty high and muddy.. I was there Thursday morning and caught around 15 in about 45 min. Those were all caught on a Husky Jerk...
Has anybody tried WEST POINT?? I bet the fish are think up there at the spill way.

How do you access that area? Never heard of it.

I went back this morning and fished in the RAIN for about a hr. Ended up catching around 15. Most were caught at the parking lot standing on the little dock or what ever you call it. Caught a few on a roostertail but most were caught on the HUSKY jerk. (glass shad) They would nail it as it was sitting still. Out of the 15 I only ended up with 3 solid keepers. The fish are still there. Hopefully they will stick around for another week or 2.
Jim, West point is a City owned park off of Roxborough rd in Durham. There is what I call a Dam there. I have talked to guys who have caught plenty of fish there. With the water up like it is the fish have got to be there. I just have a hard time leaving biting fish to find more fish..

Oh, I also saw several fish feeding from the top this morning. It may be time to break out the POP-R

I did not see anyone in the water. Actually there was only 3 cars there including mine.
