Powder Paint Water!!!!!!!! Check this one out!!!

Had to post this one ladies and gents.. From a thread over on Tackleunderground.com a guy posted about this.

On columbia coatings website under powder additives they have something called powder water. It is supposed to make powder paint like normal paint I think. Anyone ever use this?

Basically you mix this powder water with powder paint at a 1:1 ratio and use a brush or eye applicator to put it on then CURE IT like regular powder paint.

Seems like it could help cure a lot of the problems some of us have with making eyes with the regular powder paint or adding things on. I'm gonna send them a few more questions but this stuff looks pretty neat and you're supposed to be able to use it with any kind of powder paint brand.

Please do let us know and I will make sure to ask some questions about it too so we cover all our bases. Sounds too good to be true but I would love it since I can't make a shape other than a splatter with PP.

Yea I posted this application bout 7 months bsck don't guess many people read it.you can search for wet slurry paint you'll find it.

Let Me advise you mixing of different materials can be bad inpigments I got in some powdered pigment that didn't jive with My CSI stuff after I'd mixed it had to chunck it all color flattened out no gloss and blurry.

I wish I would have known this before. I tried it last night with way too much water. It worked kinda okay but was clumpy and impossible to work with.

Is good to know I can simply try to use water. I thought maybe some kind of thickener would help. I still might try the powder water to see if it is special in some way or something.

The embossing fluid (got the idea from tacklemaking.com) is pretty much the same thing. The embossing heat gun is not bad (and it's cheap ~$10) for a single heat source - temp was ~ 550*F.

Get some CC mirror gloss clear - can add it to anything - a real super gloss covering.

You can store it for a bit but may have to add some powder water back to it once you get ready to use it. It does dry up a little!

Yes, you can thin it enough to go through an air brush but you will need to get a little larger nozzle size to let it go through.

Yes, you do cure again, whether it is 10-20 minutes is your call. I usually don't go 20 minutes on something small like you guys are doing. I would only go from 10-15 minutes.

Yes, we have gotten about 10 phone calls on it after it went up on whatever forum you guys are on!

Remind everyone, Powder Water is only really good for small stuff like what you guys are doing! It does not by no stretch take over the actual powder coating method with a standard powder gun on large stuff. It just will not lay correctly!
