Anyone else out there into old outboards? I use a 1960 Johnson 18HP a lot and really like it.

That's a very good site. I used to visit it all the time when I was into older FeatherCraft boats. One reason I have been hanging onto the 35hp. I had been trying to find an older boat to restore like new.
I've fixed up several. The 35's were good solid motors. It's a labor of love sometimes as the parts can be very expensive. Most people won't mess with them because of the the costs and how heavy they can be. I like them though.
What kind of shape is yours in? Have you checked the compression?

Have not checked it. All I ever tried to do was start it, which it did start, but, was running rough. Am only assuming one of the plug wires is bad, but never got fire from it. Other one was what was running the motor.
Cowling and all other parts seem to be here. I think it's a good motor. Might have to try a compression test when I have time.
I work at the plant in Oologah. Let me know when you want to do it and I'll bring my compression gauge with me. We could check it after work sometime.
