DeGray Slowwww Today - - -
At least for me 'n the wife. Wuz foggy this mornin' but finally cleared off around eleven or so, clouds began breaking up & sun came out shortly after noon with a NE wind about 5-10mph. Lots of boats on the lake but lotsa movin' goin' on too. I'm sure some folks were catchin' 'em but I didn't see any caught. Fished hard using minnows, jigs, jigs 'n minnows, slow, fast, & medium. Never even had a bite 'til a little after 4pm, then a 15 1/2" 2.2lb female tapped my pink 'n pearl tube skirt jig. She wuz really full of eggs & the eggs looked to be about ready. She is the first fish I've caught since starting to use the new boat & my wife wouldn't even hear of releasing her. Water temp started out at 53.7* about 9am & we hit some 57/58* temps in south facing coves this afternoon. I expect it won't be very long at all 'til the shallow coves 'n points will be overrun with spawning crappie. Gonna try to fish a often as possible for the next few weeks. My brother is taking his camper to Alpine Ridge COE C/G Thursday for a couple of weeks. If my dentist gets my new denture fitted properly I may join him for a few days :D . Hate to post a pic of just one lonely fish but since this wuz the first one for the boat & a pretty nice one to boot, here she is -
