Well I had taken the advice of all here and bought some sickle hooks when I got my regular hig hook order and today I was bored so I pouring jigs. Got the sprues off, trimmed them and then counted 525 in 3 1/2 hours.
I know you guys said the sickles were sharp but man trimming the sprues off I got stung more than I ever have.
I had minnow head, pony head and ball head with size 2 & 4 sickles, and ball heads with size 6 regular mustads

Welcome to the sickle hook world.Now you have an even bigger selection to work with.Those 2's and 4's hurt as do all the sickles,especially those bigger ones like the 3/0's on a 1/4 or 3/8 oz.You don't reach into a bag of these,you dump them out. once in awhile I forget and they are more than happy to remind me.It seems like they jump at your fingers.Sharp,sharp,sharp they are.
Pretty good output for 1/2 day - I burn out after 700 or so a day. How did the #4 black chrome Sickles look?
The black chrome #4s look good, I have a few different models with them on it.
525, man I get tired after pouring 200. It certainly helps you think you're going faster if you can do 2 at a time, or have the production molds.
Fatman with all those new jig heads you will find out you have lots of buddys who need some.
of course that is what all good fishing buddies do, a friend in need you just have to let hom have a few:DQuote:

Cause it saves money when they go up in price and If I stock up now I'll have them!!!!!!!!!!!
May break out the powder later and paint a bunch but the wife has a coaching clinic to go to for 2 days so might wait until then before doing it

I stuck myself with them siclkes 6-8 times today !! Man they sure bury up in the roof of a crappies mouth though !!

Yeah it definately goes quicker when your using three molds at the same time, although after an hour you pour lead into all three molds and then let them sit and get up and stretch wash your hands and have a cig and a cup of coffee.

Yeah, I need to find someone who would be willing to pour a bunch of jigheads for me. Think I might have a guy here in my neck of the woods to tie them for me, but not sure yet. Do you all use the heads with the barbed necks on them? or find neckless molds to tie jigs on? I've been buying the barbed neck ones from wall mart and cutting the excess lead off the jighead. Is that ok to do?
