Lake atkins report
decided to head to the lake this afternoon and really got into em. i put in around 4:30 and ended up with 22 crappie between 11 and 15 inches. I stopped fishing at 7:00 so it was some fast action. I also missed about 10 more and about 4 or 5 got off right at the boat:mad:. I was fishing 3 foot deep in 4 foot of water on the outide edge of the cypress trees and the females were full of eggs. it was a great day on the water.:)

FYI
I grew up at Pine Bluff and we always called it "Atkins Lake".
That is also how it shows up on Google maps.
It is a good sized oxbow lake with lots of cypress trees along the edges. I would guess its maybe 2 miles long. We did a lot of water skiing there in the 70's and 80's.
The AGFC lake near the city of Atkins, just east of Russellville is "Lake Atkins".

If you don't mind ................... minnows or jigs????
The dang river is doing nothing for me or the other guys I run into down there. A co-worker has been finding a few at the dams in LR. Mostly D. Terry, the one near the airport.
Whats the fee at Atkins lake now? I haven't been there in years.

Caught em about half and half. Half on minnows and half on black and chartreuse jigs. the fee is 2.00 and has a decent ramp. Good Luck. BTW i have also heard some good reports from Hensley.
