If your jigs have been sitting around unpainted for a while the easiest way is to swish them in some white vinegar rinse them and dry with a hair dryer, then paint.
The vinegar takes off fingerprints and oils from handling them.

I do a little painting in my shop and I have to clean the metal for the paint to stick.
Thats why I was wondering.

Only thing i do is clean the spur off around the head, heat dip in powder paint, clean the eye, and bake, and your done.
I like to use vinyl paint and like Fatman, I soak in vinager for a very short time.
I haven't tried doing without the vinager. I was told to do it when I was learning and not fixing what is not broke. Mike
