1st jigs

Dude make your pics smaller. Use something to change the pixels down to a max side of 640 pixels.

Mike, it does look like a jig if that helps. I'm not sure of the size, but it looks somewhat like a saltwater jig we used on speckled trout. What is the tail made of, bucktail. It looks stiff. But beside all that it looks like its tied tight which is good. Usually less is more for crappie around here. I'm sure you've seen other tied here, use them for patterns and copy them. You will only improve with time and practice.

Skip,I try to downsize the pictures on photobucket,but I could not git them to post here.The next ones will be smaller.

Mike, I'm not sure how to do it after you load the up to photobucket, but when you load them up there is a box that says "reduce size to" click on large 640 X 480.

Good job. Those will definitely catch fish.

Constructive criticism:

1) I like a longer body and a shorter tail (more like a woolly bugger.) I think it looks better, and the hair or feathers don't foul on the hook nearly as much.

2) The head looks a little small for the body. You can either use a bigger head, or a thinner body.

3) Is that thread you're using for the body? Try chenille.

For "first jigs" those look pretty good.

I like a longer body/shorter tail as well but also make thread bodies (more for Bluegill).
Some other body materials are dubbing, mylar, peacock hurl, floss, yarn...........

All you do with photobucket is when you put your cursor over the pic a little drop down box come up right? Just copy the bottom one (like) and paste it here and it will show in your post.

One more helpful thing is it looks like you cut the ends off that hair is that right? Don't do that if you did and trim from the other end before you tie it in. So it will look better if it is more natural looking.

Not a bad tie though.

db4d,I did use thread for the body,have to try to do a body,I have some dubbing.
Skip,I did cut them off after I tied"um.
The jig head is a 1/16 oz.

Not sure what kind of dubbing you have, but most is used in tying small trout flies and is not that suitable for jigs. It's just way too sparse -- much simpler to use chenille.
