Florida, how do you hook a Catawba worm? I heard some folks cut them in half and turn them inside out. I’ve used them before without a lot of luck so maybe I’m doing something wrong. I’ve caught a ton of bluegills on oak worms but not much luck on Catawbas.
We had 3 trees back on the home place. No secret way to hook them. We just cut them in half and used half at a time. I remember they were so tough though, you could catch 4 or 5 on each piece. We put the ones left in small boxes (like sour cream containers) with corn meal then froze them. That way we had some to use year round.

I was "taught" that you had to bite the head off of the worm:eek::eek:, then turn inside out and thread hook down the body of worm.
True that you can catch many off one worm.:D:D
Another way to keep them .. place in a continer then fill it with mineral oil and then place in fridge ... lot more natural ... had a customer years ago tell me about this and I have passed it on to others who really like them "Pickeled" this way.
