Chenille body crappie jigs and trolling?
I started tying the marobou tail with the chennile body jig last year. I tie both a 1/16 and a 1/32 oz version. I started using these for trolling at the end of last season and caught as many if not more on these than anything else. A close second was the plastic body jig which I also make that is a copy of the jig that I first saw used on Weiss and is widely used in that area. I contributed the success of the chenille body to its depth that it was running when trolled. The fish were very shallow at the time I started using these and the chenille body jigs run shallower than the other type jigs or grubs I use. Everyone I show my jigs to comments on how nice they look ( what else do you expect them to say) but comment that they use the chenille jig almost exclusively for tightlining or dock shooting. When I tell them that I also troll these I get some strange looks. I have had comments about the chenille body jig not being appropiate for trolling. I am going to continue to use because I have the results to back it up but was wondering if many of you who troll use the chenille body jig. Just looking for some input. You that are making these jigs for sale, what are most of your customers using these for as far as technique? Thanks for anyones input
