I carry a drift sock with me at all times. Use it just about every trip. Once you get one you will be amazed at how often you will use it. The best one I have found is the Lindy Original Series. It is made of lightweight rip-stop nylon, dries fast, compact. Get you some 3/8 nylon rope to tie it off from your cleats. I have even used two of them, one off each side of the mid cleat to troll with when I could not get the boat to slow down enough. Depending on where you are located Bass Pro has them, also many independent mom and pops carry them. Be sure to get the Lindy "original series" drift control model. The others are heavy rubber type material, a pain in the butt to use and harder to store and dry out.
I got mine a Cabelas, Get it oversized!!!!! Dont run a long rope, about 12 ft. If you hook it to the cleats on the back it will pull you some sideways whitch is good but I have a ski rope harness also!
A short trick-- Run a second rope to the dump rope and make it long enough to come to a side cleat and not be tight it will save a lot of reaching back and over the side to bring it in!! Fat man learn this early!
You can leave it all hooked and lay it behind the drivers seat while you move around .
Good luck

I picked up a 42" a couple of weeks ago but I'm wondering if it is going to be big enough.
ok thanks guys, i believe ill invest in one of these b4 my trip
I bought one from Cabella's because the wind really moves my boat around a lot. It works, but I tend to fish where there are a lot of stumps - that's not a good combination.
i have a cloth one 50in and it works great on my 16 ft boat
