Spinner Jigs

I am curious what yalls thoughts are on spinners on jigs. I have plenty of Road Runners, but they they run a pretty penny and are a pain to tie. So I was thinking I could put some of my own jigs on these spinners. They are Lindy Little Joe spinners, size 0. Kind of looks like the spinner of a Beetle Spin to me. I posted a picture of a regular jig on one of these so you can see what I'm talking about.

My primary use for these things will be for long-line trollin. I have gotten the itch to give trolling a fair shot since Skip's thread the other day. I was thinking I would set two poles up with RRs and two poles up with these things and see if they favor one.

Anyway, are these little spinners any count or should I just stick with Road Runners?

Use em all the time myself. They like to twist the line, so you might want to consider a small swivel ahead to keep the line twist out.

I use them and they work.Depending on how deep you want the bait to run,I'll add a split shot right below the line tie eye because these baits like to come up towards the surface at certain speeds. I use an egg shaped pinch on shot.

I've been using that setup for ages and it works just fine and dandy!

Exactly. It's a classic.

Tom Nixon, a warmwater fly fishing legend, used basically the same rig to make his fly rod spinnerbaits. He just left out the jig head so it was easy to cast on a fly rod.

Sure they will work either trolling or casting. I have used the same thing before lot of times. I keep both silver and gold ones around.

I personally prefer a spinner blade that is under a jig.

Ive never been a fan of roadrunners, I dont like the idea of poor components all paint up so they wont spin. Ive also bought some of the adapters you have shown above from cabelas's bargain cave and they seem ok. Ive been kicking around making some of my own but with better components and maybe different design.
