Brian P was supposed to go there this weekend, and report, but nothing from him so far...
Sorry, crazy wk so far.
Fished hard with minnows last Friday afternoon, all day saturday, and sunday til noon without a single bite. Picked up some out in the lake on yo-yos attached to cane Friday and saturday nite. Ended up with a dozen on these yo-yos. Half and half males and females. Females looked ready to spawn.
Water is still about 2' low, most of the structure around the banks is in two foot or less of water. Hard fishing, especially in the wind. Water is on the rise, and should start to clear up. Water temps in the mid 40's. I am going to guess two more weeks until they are staging to spawn if we get some warmer weather.
I put in at Red Barn and fished a few hours Monday afternoon. Caught 3 in 2 FOW up in the brush. Water was a little muddy, 51 degrees but it got up to 54 in the shallow coves.
Me, Gooch, and his son put in at Red Barn on Monday morning. Ended up catching about 40 or so 9-10" fish in the deeper water on the bottom. Caught all of 'em on rosies. They wouldn't touch a jig Monday, but was told they was catching 'em on blue/white the day before. The bigger fish may already be heading to the shallow water in the warm afternoons. Water still low...but putting in the boat wasn't a problem, and we only hit 2 stumps. 52 degree water temp.
Thanks for the updates guys. May go try them next week. I will give a report.
Thanks again.
Sounds like we should have been fishing with rosies. I thought about fishing the deeper water but the weather sure was a lot warmer in the coves out of the wind. We caught those few fish on blk/chart, blk/red/white, and red/white.
