First drop!
Are bamboo plants related to pot plants cause I think I'm getting addicted! We dropped 5 "boo buckets" today and I'm pumped up. I think we're going to build some more tomorrow. Here we are loaded down!

Since it's such a pain to transport, I'm thinking about hauling the materials to the lake, load them up on the boat, pick out a secluded spot on the shore and build them there. Then we can return saturday to drop them and finish the day out fishing. I'm thinking this would be a lot less hassle. Not to mention hauling 150 stalks of bamboo on a pickup could be dangerous. I'll post more updates. Thanks again for all the help guys!

Good idea w/ using the bank as a construction site, that's what I'm doing...just make sure you're spot is off in the distance and well hidden from open eye.

I don't think it's an addiction until they come up with a rehab for it. As far as I have found their isn't a institution for us so it must be ok. Now if you start rolling the leaves then we need to get you some help.
Good luck with them and don't hurt your back! Season just around the corner.

Build it and they will come............
End of story......... I have caught a ton of em off mine....
Good luck..........
Keep us posted.........

Like myself folks often wonder how long it takes for the crappie to find a boo structure so I figured I'd post up a report on the ones we dropped a while back...
Site 1 was fished early last week and several nice fish over 10" were caught on it. The other site was holding small fish.
Last sunday I fished them again. Site 1 was still holding big fish, even bigger. Doubled up on 13" plus fish on one pass. Marked fish on it, so I left it alone. Site 2 still had the small fish, and a few keepers, but nothing great.
Evidently, if the fish are in the area it doesn't take long at all for them to find it. However, I can only assume that if the fish move away from the area, so do most of the fish on the structure. Only time will tell.

Good report WC, Of all the different types of structures that we have tried nothing draws crappie more quickly than green bamboo with leaves!:)

Those look great WC, try tying the tops up till you get to your spot. Makes them a lot easier to handle.

I know its an old thread but I use some cheap mason line or something of the like and "bale" mine. I have a 16foot john boat and can generally haul 5 or so in the boat and atleast that many in the bed of the truck
