Well I haven't seen any thread like this and I don't mind giving up ideas to help people I thought it would be good to post pic's of thing's we've built to help us make jig's or uitilize space, so here's a 3 level rotary storage disspencer I built where I can see what I have and it maintian's it's straightness.:)

I was fixin to say you have to be a machinest or close to build the vise, I'm building a rotary like the Nor roughed the d2 jaws tonight gotta h/t them then on to the wire machine.
I've been machining for 20+ years and just like to build stuff. I looked at the nor-vise and thought very hard about making one of them but due to time I took the easier way out. It works great for making jigs but may be a little large for tying flies.
That vise is flippin sweet! I love to build stuff too. Although I tend to lean more towards woodworking as opposed to metalworking.

Is that an Xacto knife handle??? That is a great idea and probably the most affordable vise out there. Way to use your head and make a neat vise. Great looking jigs too!!
Thanks, but I can't take claim for the idea. It is an Xacto knife handle. I saw somewhere about a guy teaching boy scouts how to make the vise and then tie flies.
That jig is the pattern I submitted for jig swap #5.
