Asprin or Round jigheads
I understand that this is stictly preferance but I was wondering your opinions. I am new to jig tying.(have always used plastics) Does the asprin head outfish a round jig? or vice versa? I have used Slaters jigs and really seem to like them. Is is posible to tie something similiar?

Each head type has it's own purpose and there are conditions wherein one will outperform another. I used them both and employ them based on the conditions at-hand.

i use every type of head there is but all for diff. things....for open water fishing ill use the round head but if im dripping brush ill use the pill head since i think the profile of it help with snaggin but this is my .02 and it prob. aint worth much

I'll go with AW here sometimes I use minnow heads also. welcome aboard.

I think a big difference is what type of eyes you want on the jig. I want to make pill heads with an eye color in the flat and put a plastic gem in the middle. Can't do this with a round head. If I just want to paint eyes on them then it doesn't really matter to me. Not yet anyway.

I guess maybe here comes the minority. I don't know that the head shape make much difference. I use ball heads and I have some Shad Darter heads which are very different than either of the others. I personally think your confidence level is what truly make the difference so the one you feel best about is what you should use.
Also eyes since they are part of this conversation again is another thing that your confidence level is key. If you are convinced that your jigs should have eyes than your jig should. If you are like me I am just as confident with a plane ball head and I paint them more so they will not continue to oxidize. I like Silver heads as much as any color there is so if the unpainted heads would stay shiny I wouldn't paint them most likely.

just clear coat them skip and youll be in there

I agree skip but I always want to make things a little more complicated, you know that.:rolleyes:
I have some tin mix jig heads from 1aB that I have no intention of painting. I like the idea of a silver flashy head and if they don't tarnish without a clear coat all the better. So far they are as bright as when I got them a month ago.
Some fishers here won't use a jig for 6 months if they use any chemicals/paints or anything else on them that has an unnatural odor.

fish 4 all have you ever read that thing on the internet about fish seeing colors and all? That guy tells a story about fishing for bream and using a split shot and a jig and the fish kept hitting the split shot?
I don't care about this guys product, but love the read so just ready the story...

I have read that and have seen it with different fish. It is amazing what a fish will hit.
Was out 2 years ago fishing for trout and caught a couple little ones. I left my hook dangling over the edge of the dock about 6 inches under the water. While getting another night crawler a 7 pound steelhead decided he liked my black nickel hook.
I winder if I should let some of my lead free ones get a little color to them and forget about tying anything on them.
