My little jigs
I decided to sit and tie some easier ones. I needed a break from my 45 minute crochets.

I know, they need work but I haven't done a lot like them. Hopefully between my monsters jig and the simpler ones I will have something that will catch fish.

hey fish what are them bodys made out of? floss?

Embroidery floss. The one with the rainbow tail is metallic copper color. I am pretty sure it is on 1/32 #8 jigs. Now I need to tie some on the 1/64 and 1/80 ones I have so I have a really big range of sizes.
I am finding it really hard not to make the body too long.

i just got done tying some 1/8 on #4 hook and 1/4 on #2 hooks...never fished with anything that heavy before but going to give it a try this year...they look nice and never tryed floss body before might have to give it a shot...i always use chenille or dim. braid on my bodys

I have made some floss material jigs that the "body" was very short, more of a collar, maybe 1/8" at most. I coated the whole collar with flexament. Once the head paint was chipped up from fishing rocks, tried to recycle the jig to repaint head and that collar was solid. Took almost 10 mins to get the material off, so is very strong.

I need to focus more on it. The bottom one and the one to the right of bottom were the best for short bodies. I am just so used to tying all the way to the bend for other species that making a short body has not been easy for me to remember to do.
Embroidery floss is something else for strength. I tried to break a single strand a week or so ago and actually cut my finger. I will use scissors from now on. Will have to try coating one with head cement and see how it looks.

Putting cement on really shines it up. I've always thought maybe it looks like fish slime...?
