Trolling motors

When fishing in Florida do most people who choose trolling motors have a grass guard to keep the Hydrilla off of the prop.

We don't. Just lift it up and make tossed salad. If you get into hydrilla so thick that don't work the drag on your boat is going to be bad and your likely to need a pole to push off.

I think weed guards are nicer in rock / wood areas that you may bang your prop on things.

The problem with hydrilla is not the prop. It is getting clogged up by wrapping itself around the shaft. You end up looking like you are pushing an entire garden's worth of weeds.

Quoted for the truth. Basically even if its not stopping your prop you get so much on your shaft you cant move the boat.
