This question is not intended for the ladies:D...But what do yall think about a bigger jig targeting bigger crappie?...I ran across some of these jigs that are what I call "Paddle Tail" jigs and they are considerably larger than what I am used to fishing with. Here is a pic of one next to a jig like I fish with:

Size theory hasn't worked yet for me, but you never know what they might want.
Hey Tim, I think that paddle tail definately is not too big.
I've tried using larger grubs a couple of times. The problem I had was I only tried it on a couple of rods and experienced quite a few more tangles. I'm sure if I had done it to all my lines there wouldn't have been a problem. I guess it's safe to say I haven't given it a fair shot.
Certain times of the year bigger is better. My experience is try bigger jigs/minnows in the winter. I have used large bass minnows in the winter targeting white crappie with much success. Unfortunatly there isnt any water on that spot :(
I know you guys were trying those large tube type jigs with the curly tails from Rusty's last I saw you.(pink/silver and tenn shad) How you do with those.
Me too, Ive always tried to use larger jigs in the really cold weather.You know the old saying they wont waste the energy chasing a small meal in cold water.Quote:

most of the time bigger is better but one day this fall My boat was using small rosie reds and small shiners. Foulhook's boat had bigger shiners.. he caught all bass while we caught crappie.. was that you with me TnT?? but i like big baits most of the time.
I like big hooks with the smaller tubes but then again I like to fish cold water..
