Well I was gonna go out tomorrow, but temps not supposed to get above freezing till after noon up here, and winds 20-25mph....ooooosh
dont think I will brave it
I think I'll probably go to Lake Dunn at Village Creek state park Sunday if the weather permits. Hey guys my son turns 19 years old Saturday I'll be throwing a B-day party for him, but I did ask him if he wanted to go fishing with me Sunday, his answer was " HECK NO! " well I guess I'll be the lone ranger again, maybe I can pick up a few slabs. See yaw later !
Will be heading to Ouachita (Mountain Harbor area) on Monday and/or Tuesday, fishing deep among the timber. I hear they are doing well on minnows.
Turkey hunting on north bank of Ouachita the rest of the week. I love the winter bite and hunt. Solitude among the eagles (and crappie and turkeys) makes is all worthwhile.
aj
lol yea its a pretty good ride up river, may try somewhere a lil closer til it warms up again. the good thing about felsenthal is if u dont like the crowds there are a bunch of places u can fish all day and never see another boat(well, except for duck hunters). i prefer the little oxbows myself. good luck to you as well. this should be a good weekend
Well I went to Moore's bayou and it was a little muddy and the wind was tough, no bites. Went to Morgan point and it was white capping, drove over to coal pile and it was rough so I came home. Not a good day for fishing for me. Will probably try chicot in the morning.
They were hitting pretty good at LM this morning. I got there about 7:30 and was able to fish til 9:30 when I had to come in to do a little work. It was pretty windy but I managed to catch 16 during that time. When I found them they were deep (52'-58') stacked up on the bottom and were covered up in shad on the graph. Another boat came in and started fishing the same hole and we were both using jigs 2-3 cranks off the bottom; caught several real good slabs along with the smaller ones. I plan on being there in the morning. The wind is supposed to be lighter tomorrow. I dragged an anchor most of the time this morning trying to stay in one spot and keep the lines vertical. They ain't likin' a whole lot of movement and the bite is extremely light. If you run the outboard over the school seems like it takes at least 20 minutes for them to settle back down and start back bitin even though they are deep.
I can't imagine fishing that deep unless fishing for snapper off the gulf coast. That is crazy!
