We are thinkin of gettin a new 24v tm. We have 8 guage wires run to the front. Is that enough for the tm. I know manuf. say 6 but they cover their self. Does anybody run 24v with 8 ga. wire?

With 8 gauge wire you will have less than 1 volt drop so that will work fine.

Just remember, you lose power as heat when running smaller wire. Don't fuse the 8 ga any bigger than 40A for fire safety. It the motor won't run on a 40A breaker, you'll be better off going to the 6ga wire.
If we have a 18' deep v boat, do we need a 70lb or 80 lb thrust? We have a 55lb now but needs a little more and variable speed.

Either one will work fine. I always go with the biggest I can. You don't have to use it at full speed but if you ever need it to get out of trouble, you have it.Quote:
