Sickle butt Jig

I know, terrible name for it but is all I could come up with. I also doubt this is a new concept but I couldn't find any other pictures of it being done so I had to post it. Forgive me if it has been posted already but I did try to find other similar ones, honest. :D

Anyone else ever try it? Anyone have any luck catching fish with them? I think it looks good and with the tail being longer without being so long that short bites are missed it might be a nice method.

Don't see why it wouldn't catch a fish, gills especially. I might even give it a try on the craps.

Great lookin jig. What is a sickle hook doin in Aberdeen country !!

There are actually quite few lakes way out here in nowhere land that have crappie, gills, bass, perch, brown bullheads and whatever else. Just really hard to get the water warm enough to really turn on a bite. I think the sickle might help with getting those light biters by the lip where the straight ones might miss.

Not to mention the sickle could prove to be an awesome salt water and steelhead jig hook.

Oh, watch out there, Fish4All, the steelhead & salt water Sickles are a heavier gauge than the inland variety. Not sure where to get the heavies, anyone know?

I think they will work, can't be any worse than the hooks I use now. Won't know till I get some from you, get the jigs tied and try them this summer for summer run and also try them this winter and spring for crappie and such. Quality is hard to find here and sharp hook jigs even harder.

If nothing else I can tie a bunch more of my Sickle butt Jigs and gets some bass and crappie on them. Either way it is fish on the table that I might have lost otherwise.

This Bait Would Definitely Catch Fish In My Area,even Better Around Here Would Be A Chartreuse Color. You Do This In A 1/32 In Chartreuse And You Have A Crappie Killer Bait.i Think The Regular Sickles Will Hold A 20lb Steelhead.i've Had Some Friends Out Your Way Catch Big Steelhead With The Regular Sickles,although If There Is Some Sickles With A Heavier Guage Out There I'd Go With Them.
