It would help if you would give an approximate price range that fits your budget. Also do you want color or greyscale GPS etc? I just bought a Hummingbird 798c SI unit from www.threeriversmarine.net for $929.00.
Careful on that link. It does not state specifically what is included. May be without GPS module.
Strictly the biggest bang for the buck would be the Eagle 320. More buck gets you more bang though, but as far as value and performance, the 320 is it. Give us a budget and we'll give you better advice though.

They had a Humminbird 717 at Academy last night for $129 (MSRP $199) which is $10 less than the 320 MSRP of $139. I'll chime in about how well it works once I have used it some.
I saw the 798 for $871 here:

I love my eagle 320s. I have one for the front and one for the back. All my friends have never had any luck with any depth finder past 5 years. That is why I opted for a cheaper model.IMHO stay at or above 320 pixels.:D
i love my Lowrance 522, even though its still in the unopened box, been using the trial ware download of there site and this unit amaze me
i seen cabalas has it on sale for 499.00 with free shipping
