Best Fish finder for $500?

Opinions please. Thought HB was it, but have been hearing lots about Lowrance.

I just bought a Lowrance 520c with the transducer and antenna on ebay for a mere $420. It's about 8 months used, but new to me and works fine. I've hooked it up in my living room and been playing with the GPS on it. The boat is not quite ready for it yet. BPS just had a sale on the 522ci for just under $500 NIB. The new ones come with a mapcreate disc I do believe.

I have read post that talk about being able to see the jig on the screen. Is this doable in this price range? Also, it was the "eagle" I had been reading about.

I have the Lowrance 522i gps and love it. I also had to get the Navionics sd card to see lakes in HD. Just wish they would update lake talquin to HD.

8...you can see jigs on any of them...the key is setting it up right. The main price difference comes in on the size and resolution of the screen....and b/w and color. I would recommend at least a 320x320...which can be bought under 200 dollors and will do anything you need....the good thing about color is you are looking at 256 or more shades/colors and such....and with b/w you are looking at 16 shades normally. Check out the posts about screen images and check out some of the links to other sites and posts....you can really see the differences in many units by looking at screen shots.

What you use is what you'll be able to read. If you get a really expensive one and use it alot you'll be able to read it if you set it up right....if you get a cheaper one...and use it...you'll be able to read it if you set it up right...

The key is setting it up right.

I got a LMS 522c igps color screen and luv it. You may catch these on sale for $500 and Lowrance was offering a free rebate hots map also.
