Has anyone used dielectric grease on the ends of the AA batteries to help prevent corrosion? I just spent $81.00 to repair a hand held unit that the batteries leaked and corroded the clips.
Thanks
Chuck :)

I don't know that it would help on the batteries themselves, but it might help if you covered the terminals inside the equipment. I usually avoid storing things with batteries in them for that reason.
I tend to agree on removing batteries from a unit that I am not going to use for a while. Just thought that I might have a Sr moment and forget.
Thanks

Use rechargeable type NmH, NiCad, etc. They don't corrode.
I have started to use these, said to not discharge on their own. Sanyo Eneloop and Rayovac Hybrid nickel metal hydride. So far so good.
Thanks guys. I'll give it a try. Good fishing.
