Jeremy here. Im new to the forum. I have fished Hensley quite a bit. It is actually down at Wright. Take HWY 256 out of England. Takes you down to Wright. Road will make hard left at Brodie Bend Bar continue south and go past the grocery store and there will be a bait shop sign on the right (Archer Road) that takes you over the levee to the lake. Be careful when you cross the levee. Lake and boat ramp is 50 yards over the levee. Grocery store on the highway used to have bait, I dont know if it still does. Bait shop at the boat ramp is closed due to flooding back earlier in the year. Put $2 in the green box and fish away. Averages about 10' with really shallow water up on the west end. I mean really shallow 3' so be carefull.
type in Henslee lake rd ar on at google maps to get directions notice how henslee is spelled. good luck i may have to try it as well be sure to let us know how you do
be sure to check out the street view on google maps and jerry there are probably some good sized shad in there.
If the high water that we had earlier in the year didnt wash them away you should be able to get plenty. You can also go up Maynard Road and use a $2 pay ramp to enter the AR river in Brodie Bend. If Hensley dont work try the river bend there. You should be able to get what you need. I have been reading about getting tires cut at Willow Beach. Are you calling willow beach lake the one right off 165? There used to be a bait shop there on 165 that would let you pay to use it. Since all of the housing came in I didnt know there was still a ramp to get in there.
Jerry, I see some guide's getting shad out of Gold Creek all the time. There are some big ones in there.
Thanks guys. Will let yall know how i do. Probably try it next week
good luck
