I still have a bunch of the fencing material I picked up the other day. Here is another Idea. the only problem I see is deploying it. I think I can screw the panels in place on the water and then push the bucket off the front. Any feed-back from the stake bed building gurus would be very welcome! Thanks. BTW, These are about 3' tall and will be placed on a 5' flat. The center post will be cut to length.
I would screw the pickets to the cross pieces & lay them in a pile on the boat. when you get to your location just screw the pre-made pieces to the center post.
I noticed your bucket was not full. It might sink quicker if you were to finish filling it with dirt, as it would be a waste to completely fill it with concrete.
Bombs away & just wait for the fish to find their new home.
how about just bolting it to the side of the bucket and sticking a couple rocks in the bucket
I like that old aged wood, i think it will work great. good idea, bolting to the bucket & rocks cost less than concrete. get them put out & they should be a fish magnent by spring.:)Quote:

Stake beds look great... but 3' tall in 5' of water somebody will be hitting em with their motor and when the lake level drops look out.....

I would suggest something SOFTER in shallow water, such as a limb or small tree. I would put the cover you built in at least 8 foot if you were worried about it getting hit, if for no other reason than it might get knocked over. Crappie spend a whole lot more time in 8-12 feet of water than they do in 3-5.
I like them, looks good. I have been consternating about shallow water cover that can be deploy from a boat when the water is higher. We already have our bamboo mega mats when the water is down and built on dry ground. You might want to consider putting your horizontal support boards on the bottom so you can pass a jig between the vertical boards more easily. Just a thought.
the 2 horizontal boards that make up the frame could be bolted to the sides at the bottom and the whole thing made off of that. might make it a little wobbly though. I kinda like the way he made it on top
