Might want to check your GPS orientation in the mapping section. If you have the unit on 'Track Up' then the cursor will always point up on your screen and everything else on the screen will rotate around you. Makes you seem like you're always going in the same direction. Switch to 'North Up' or one of the other settings and the icon will spin around in different directions. Regardless, zooming out on your map screem will show the plot trail with all the twists and turns mapped. Not sure if this answers your question or not.

Mine does that too at very low speeds. Look for a feature called "track smoothing" and turn it off. I don't like the way it acts with it off but it helps.
Most gps units I have used will not act as well when slow trolling. I have noticed that when I approach a waypoint with my GarminMAP76Csx, if I am approaching slow, the cursor will waffle.
To get it to maintain the correct direction, I just bump up the tm a couple of notches and then, as I pass over the waypoint, I drop the marker.
This is a common problem when trolling s l o w and is the "nature of the beast" so I have been told. I have learned to live with mine when long-lining.

I turned the track smoothing off and it works like a champ. Amazing what this website offers to us. A world of information!! If it wasn't for you guys I would still be trying to get back to that spot. My fish ratio has drastically increased now that I can get back to the same location. Who needs directions when you have CDC!!
