I've go a lot of crepe myrtle limbs from pruning some big trees. They would make some great buckets and the wood is free. Does this kind of wood work okay for crappie condos?

Will work but it is soft wood so it will not last as long as the hardwoods.

Id like to have some sunk that are freshly trimmed (whole trunk) in a bucket of concrete lol
Bundle it together in the middle and put a weight in the middle. That works best for me. I have caught many out the that type of tree. The limbs are just the right size and they seem to last about as long as the rest. I put mine in 6 to 7 feet of water.
In My experience, Crappie go to them faster than any other cover I have ever used. CF
