Chain Lakes 10/18
Went over there with my Brother and Father in law. It was my first time there, and I must say that it was some beautiful crappie waters.
We fished two boats and cought 30 keepers. I myself threw back about another 15-20 small ones. I think that we could have done better if there would not have been a full moon the night before. We were on the water at 7.30am and I only had 2 by 10am. They picked up a little after 10. It was not a real steady bite, just came in spurts.

Good job Joe....thanks for the report.

Way to go Joe. Wish I had gone there today. Went to Plum Bayou and got skunked. The only bite I got was a mosquito. :D ;)

just came in spurts.
I've noticed for the last 3 days the better fishing starting at around 10,it could be b/c of the moon setting around that time.
B/c of the spurts my cooler doesn't fill up to fast plus I have another problem catching them lately after they hit the jig.I call it tagging the jig, when they hit the jig they'll fight like crazy for a little while and just let it go and not even take the crappie nibble with them. Not even down sizing or up sizing the jig makes any differents, how they can put up a great fight and not even have the hook is head scatching to me.Meet another fisherman on the lake today and he was useing minnows,he said he would get a good hit and fight for a little while but would still have his minnow on the hook and no fish.I've fished the same lake for the last 3 days, the fish I cleaned has nothing the their bellies, crappie, bream and bass.Going again tomorrow b/c sooner or later the spurts and tagging has to stop and go on a feeding spell or they going to starve to death lol.

I use the Mr. Crappie hooks. They are a red hook, kind of like a Tru Turn hook. If they get it in their mouth, it is going to get hooked in the upper part of the mouth. I did not have that problem.
