Lake o the Pines - a few questions

Anybody familiar with the lake? I am thinking of going there this Friday/Saturday. Planning to stay at the Tejas Village motel.

Specific Questions:
1) any comments about the facilities/ramp/hotel/restaurant at Tejas Village?
2) any comments pertaining to fishing around the dam/SE end of the lake?
3) any whitebass, hybrids or crappie around the dam this time of year?
4) anyone familiar/experienced with the lake want to meet and fish together Friday afternoon or Saturday morning? I fish out of a white 17-foot Xpress bassboat with a 90 hp mercury. Feel free to PM me if you prefer.

Tejas has opened again, we drove buy 2 weeks ago in my boat , there people in some rooms and I think they have restaurant open. Im not much help on fishin. Ramp is good shape no problem puttin boat in. My place is about 6 miles by water toward other end of lake in Copeland Creek area, we catch some cats now in this area. Have a good time.

410man, thanks for the response. you said they opened again? what happened, did they close recently and then re-open? I'm gonna give them a try.

Dave, I'm not sure if they were closed of if they were cleaning up after the storm. (LOP was hit very hard by Ike especially on the North side of the lake.) Tejas is a nice place to stay if you want a small cabin/room and to go fishing. I am not sure about the restaurant there but Brushy Landing is about 2 miles towards the dam on FM 729 and they have pretty good burger!

I don't think the crappie will be in the dam area and there are not any hybrids that I know of. I would sure try fishing that boat dock right there at Tejas to see if any crappie are under there and through the creek that runs through next to it. Also check out Johnson's creek and hurricane creek I think there is a map at the office/restaurant on the wall and if not Brushy Landing has some.

I don't think I could get loose Sat morning but that sure is a generous offer!

Lake O' The Pines

Tejas Village is an older property; hotel wasn't up-dated but OK for a night's sleep. Cabin units looked very nice from outside. Excellent boat ramp area. Restaurant closed-but able to find something to eat at Brushy Landing (gas station, just down the road towards the dam from Tejas Village) - folks there were very nice and the food was good. Fished Friday afternoon in Johnson Creek: caught 10 or so around the fish attractor and the bridge area (only 3 were big enough to keep.) Fished Saturday off the flooded road/bridge near Tejas Village in Brushy Creek. Lots of crappie and a few bass, all taken on a 1/4 jig head and electric chicken tube jig (tip: only got bites when jigs were tipped with crappie nibbles.) Took home 10 solid keepers. Nice lake, nice experience. Froggerz, thanks again for the tips.
