Just ordered one for the front of boat. Only head unit. I don't need to deal with any more gps or map issues.
A big screen just for looking.
Lowrance has rebates going on now. This particular unit with the rebate will cost $608.10 (including shipping). Not too bad for a looker unit.
Lowrance is either gonna replace the unit with a "new and improved as seen on TV model" or they are hurting for sales or both. Prob both.
Rebates on lots of models.

It is a great unit. I have one on the front of my PC175. I can see my jigs while spider rigging and can see the fish come up from the bottom to take the bait. I run my baits at slightly different depths and can usually tell which rod I'm going to need to reach for before the fish actually hits.
I've had mine a couple years now. Can I still get a rebate?
I did same thing, just got mine last week. Only used it one time so far, had to leave town for work. Really like it. I was thinking on the same lines about Lowrance, it's time they introduced a new line of products with more bells and whistles so we will spend more money.
I have found that the 997 can get me much closer to a waypoint than the LCX-27C does. I use a GPS to get me close, throw a marker, move around using the depth finder to locate what I'm looking for, and finally throw another marker right next to the target when I find it. Normally, the target is within the depth finder beam using the 997 and I do not have to look around much. There are times when there is a "large" error between the 27C GPS and the actual target. This may be partially due to the limited zoom range for the GPS screen.Quote:

Maybe I should talke to Lowrance directly. That's a good price for the unit. I've seen 'em advertised for $999 just a couple of months ago...back when I was considerin' Humminbird.
Did yours come with the transducer at that price?

I found the rebates on the Lowrance support page. Most manuf have different on going promotions. I always check the promotions before I spend the money.Quote:
