I guess someone has t-ville figured out.
With things finally starting to settle down a little I might make T-ville next week myself. How were they catching them on Ky Afield and how deep? Has anyone been to the lake themselves recently?
Take care,
Greenfish
When did that show air ?? I have the DVR set to record the show, but the last one I saw was about catching cats on KY Lake, & Bass fishing at Cedar Creek. Haven't seen any about T-ville. Can't even find that one on You Tube :p
I have no doubts about T-ville's ability to produce Crappie, even in July  ... :D I just worry about the messed up Spring spawns, that we've had during the last few years, and the impact that may have on the upcoming years population.
If I could see the show, I'm pretty sure I could pinpoint the location ;) .... what were they using (method/bait/presentation)
... cp
I first saw it 7-26 and have it recorded Sunday morning 7-27.
It looked as though the were fishing a Spring time pattern. Dipping minnows around trees and brush.
Also----Wonder why they have pulled t-ville back to winter pool so soon?
Can you see the date and show topic in kdfw website? I alway's watch the show but missed it sat due to working 16hrs.
Anyway, to answer your question :
They haven't really "pulled" the lake, any ... it's only down 1.2ft from Summer Pool, and that's due to little to no rain in the area over the last few weeks. Checking out this chart : http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/wc/res...plots/tvl.html -- you can see that. And, since Summer Pool and Winter Pool are only 2ft of depth apart ... it's pretty easy for the lake to look low, even when it's only down a little.
As for catching Crappie "dipping minnows around trees and brush" ... T-ville does get a thermocline, and that may well keep them shallower than on larger lakes. I used to catch them in less than 8ft of water, in Dec-Feb, close to the bank and right next to the trunk of a large blowdown ;) Most of my "summertime" Crappie fishing, there, using minnows ... was 5-8ft deep in the shaded timber/stumps - then 12-15ft deep, in the standing timber nearby, once the sun got higher. But, that was before I got into using jigs so much. :D
I do remember seeing a KY Afield show, awhile back, showing Tim fishing with some old guy down on KY Lake in 100deg heat ... catching Crappie pretty shallow (<10ft deep, I think). White Crappie will tolerate much warmer water than Black Crappie will, so maybe T-villes White Crappie are shallower than most people would think
I've caught most of the Crappie, that I've caught at T-ville, in less than 15ft of depth (regardless of bottom depth) ... whether using minnows or jigs, regardless of time of year. Haven't caught them on EVERY trip I've made :p but, when I did catch them, they seemed to prefer the 8-12ft depth range (spawning time excluded, as I normally catch them, then, in the 4-8ft range).

I just checked it and someone more computer literate can find it im sure.
tim fished with dave rodgers a tourney fisherman, guide and author from georgetown, he wrote i cool little book called ever had a crappie day, dave guides t-ville, grenada and a few others, the few times i spoke with him he seems very nice and is willing to give any advice you ask, if you keep up with the tourneys he and his partner always do well, i think his guide service is called feared by fish, he always has a booth at the lexington boat show, check him out interesting fellow.
I need to apologize for the information on recorded show. I saw the Ky Afileld show
( crappie fishing at T-ville) Sat night, but the Sunday recorded show was a repeat of an earlier episode on Crappie fishing tips and Cedar Creek. I have looked at the advanced upcoming show times and haven't seen where this particular episode on T-ville is playing. Crappie 52 is right about who Tim Farmer was fishing with, Dave Rodgers. I think I recognized at least one area they were fishing as Timber Creek, but don't hold me to it. Sorry for the inaccurate info. I'll keep an eye out for the show on T-Ville.
Update- Show aired tonight 7-28 at 11:30 and I think is supposed to air again Tuesday 7-29@ 11:30pm.
