I saw somebody mention a wooley bugger jig the other day, I searched online and found nothing of the sorts. I decided to make what I thought it should look like, and get feedback on if that was correct. If this is not what they are, then I will name it something else.
Looks good,should be a killer in clear water.

I just had a n idea, I am going to get some model airplane paint and paint the jighead gold, and make it a bead head WB. I know they are killer on most fish in the small streams around here and SMB love 'em.
Exactly what it's supposed to look like!!!!!!! Although us fly guys tie them on 1/80th to 1/100th oz jigs so we don't break our fly rods. Make sure to do some up in different colors to give the fish a change after they stop biting the first color.

I plan on doing other colors, that is just what I had on the bobbin at the time and said, hmm... got the ole noodle working and that is what came out. That one is on a 1/32 jighead. I am thinking of using it (and others) with my 4-1/2 ft micro pole for gills.Quote:

Read many times that Gold Fish are are wonderful bait fish.
IMO, the hackle is optional. They work just as well without it.
This might help. I spray my jig heads with Rust-Oleum metallic gold and cover with two ton expoxy from Walmart. Don't try to cover with anything else. Everything else I tried, dulled the finish. I buy the Rust-Oleum at A.C. Moore with a 40-50% coupon downloaded from the net. I line the jigs up on a threaded bar a spray 10-15 at a time. Fast and easy. If you are fishing the jigs in open water, you probably don't even need to cover with the epoxy. Pop

Thinking about this thread last night while I tied some buggers for a friend. Was digging through my chenile cards for the right color and came across a card of Mohair Leech yarn in olive.
I remembered I had read an article on it somewhere. Well here's the site, might even be able to exclude hackle!! and save a few bucks,

and the photo is cool, when I get my jig heads painted the right color OLIVE, I'm going to try it. If it works I might get some more in different colors. The link for the fly shop he talks about doesn't work for me but when I'm ready I'll try sending them an email.
